A 23-year-old southwest Miami-Dade resident was taken into custody Saturday following a traffic stop in which authorities discovered he was operating a school bus with a suspended driver’s license and no commercial driving credentials. Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office deputies responded at approximately 3:14 p.m. to reports of reckless driving near Southwest 104th Avenue and Southwest 172nd Street, ultimately locating the yellow bus in the area of Hibiscus Street and Homestead Avenue.
The driver was identified as Erick Anthony Moore, who could not provide information regarding the school bus’s ownership. An investigation revealed the vehicle itself was unregistered, and Moore’s driving privileges had been suspended and he had never obtained a commercial driver’s license, according to the arrest report obtained Monday by Local 10 News.
During the arrest process, deputies discovered Moore had an active fugitive warrant from another county. The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office Warrants Bureau subsequently confirmed the warrant’s validity, leading to his transport to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center without incident.
Moore faced multiple charges including driving with a suspended license, operating a commercial vehicle without proper credentials, and operating an unregistered motor vehicle. While he was assigned an $800 bond, he remains incarcerated at TGK due to the out-of-county warrant.
