Bijan Robinson Inks Record Deal as NFL’s Highest-Paid Running Back

Atlanta Falcons running back Bijan Robinson has secured his place in NFL history off the field, agreeing to a three-year, $75 million contract extension with the team on Tuesday. The deal makes the 24-year-old the highest-paid running back in league history, featuring $37 million guaranteed at signing and $51 million fully guaranteed overall, according to ESPN.

Robinson had remained at the Falcons’ facility while negotiations took place, refraining from participating in team drills during the extension discussions. The Texas product, drafted eighth overall in 2023, has not missed a game during his three-year career and immediately emerged as one of football’s elite ball carriers.

During his rookie season, Robinson appeared in all 17 games, accumulating 976 rushing yards and four touchdowns while adding 58 receptions for 487 yards and four receiving scores. His sophomore year in 2024 marked a significant leap, as he rushed for 1,456 yards and 14 touchdowns alongside 61 catches for 431 yards and one score.

Last season, Robinson led the entire league in scrimmage yards while cementing his role as the Falcons’ offensive engine. He recorded 1,478 rushing yards with seven touchdowns and hauled in 79 passes for 820 yards and four receiving touchdowns, earning Pro Bowl selections in each of his last two seasons.

The Falcons have aggressively invested in their offense this offseason, having previously extended wide receiver Drake London with a four-year, $141 million deal and tight end Kyle Pitts with a three-year, $54 million extension in June. Detroit Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs is also seeking a new contract while holding out from team activities.
