A 58-year-old gas station employee in North Carolina has been found dead following her disappearance from her Hickory home, authorities announced Friday. Robin Doyle was last observed by a family member on July 27 and reported missing the following day when she could not be located at her residence, according to the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office.
Leroy Allen Loper, 54, was taken into custody and charged with felony murder, first-degree kidnapping, and concealment of death in connection with Doyle’s death. Loper carries the designation of registered sex offender and maintains previous felony convictions including first-degree kidnapping and second-degree forcible sexual offense, officials disclosed.
Loper remains incarcerated at the Catawba County Detention Facility without bond eligibility. Sheriff Don Brown released a statement expressing sympathy for Doyle’s family while pledging continued investigation into all aspects of the case.
Those who knew Doyle characterized her as a warmhearted and generous individual who earned respect among regular customers at the Propst Superette where she worked. Colleagues and patrons described her welcoming presence and noted her absence as a significant loss to the community.
