The United States Soccer Federation confirmed Monday that manager Mauricio Pochettino has agreed to remain with the men’s national team through the 2030 World Cup. The 54-year-old Argentine coach will continue leading the USMNT despite earlier speculation he might return to club-level management after the 2026 tournament.
Pochettino’s tenure has already produced notable accomplishments on the international stage. The USMNT secured its first knockout-stage victory since 2002 under his leadership at the 2026 World Cup, defeating Bosnia and Herzegovina 2-0, and captured just the third outright group-stage win in team history.
In his statement, Pochettino emphasized his commitment to building the program’s long-term strength beyond immediate results. “The passion we experienced from the fans throughout the World Cup only strengthened our belief in what is possible here,” he said, pledging to strengthen player pathways and coaching development across the federation.
The decision provides organizational stability as American soccer continues developing its domestic culture. Retaining an experienced manager already familiar with the roster, playing environment, and organizational structure positions the program to build sustained momentum heading into the tournament jointly hosted by Portugal, Spain, and Morocco.
