Dramatic video footage captured the moment an Ohio man accused of theft jumped onto the hood of a moving vehicle on Interstate 75 while attempting to evade police. The incident unfolded on July 27 when Miami Township officers pulled over a car carrying two men suspected of shoplifting from a Kroger supermarket, according to WKRC.
One of the suspects, identified as Kaamil O’Berry, fled the vehicle on foot and ran onto the I-75 on-ramp as officers pursued him. While running across the interstate, O’Berry leaped onto the hood of a passing car driven by a woman who was traveling down the highway.
O’Berry remained clinging to the hood of the vehicle, allegedly trying to seize control of it, while damaging the windshield in the process. The suspect was visible on the highway camera footage until both the car and O’Berry disappeared from view on the roadway.
O’Berry eventually lost his grip and fell from the vehicle. He was apprehended and taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. He now faces charges of obstructing official business, theft and aggravated robbery.
David Sutter, the other suspect who remained in the police vehicle during the incident, was charged with complicity to theft.
