The University of Miami has secured head coach Mario Cristobal’s future with a contract extension, the Miami Herald reported. The financial details and length of the new agreement have not been publicly disclosed at this time.
Cristobal will enter his fifth season leading the Hurricanes program after being hired in 2021 on a 10-year, $80 million deal. His tenure has produced a 35-19 regular-season record and a 3-3 bowl game mark across four years in Coral Gables.
The extension comes on the heels of an exceptional 2024 season in which Miami reached the College Football Playoff National Championship Game, marking the program’s first appearance in the championship game since 2000. The Hurricanes have not captured a national title since 2001.
Miami is positioned among the nation’s top contenders for a national championship in the coming season. The extension signals the university’s commitment to Cristobal as the program pursues its first national title in more than two decades.
