U.S. Representative Marcy Kaptur, D-Ohio, remained hospitalized Sunday following a motor vehicle collision that occurred near Toledo while she was en route to a church service, according to a statement issued by her congressional office.
The congresswoman was a passenger in the vehicle at the time of the crash. Medical personnel determined that her injuries do not pose a threat to her life, though she is receiving treatment at a medical facility. Her office indicated that Kaptur maintains alertness and continues to be responsive to medical staff.
Toledo Police are conducting an ongoing investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident. Kaptur’s office said it will provide additional details as law enforcement completes its examination of the incident and releases findings to the public.
