Chelsea Green claimed the Interim WWE Women’s Championship on Sunday night at SummerSlam, held at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, in a ladder match featuring six competitors. Green defeated Lash Legend, Jade Cargill, Charlotte Flair, Tiffany Stratton, Michin and B-Fab to reach the top of the ladder and seize the title.
The accomplishment marks a milestone for Green, whose résumé encompasses multiple championship reigns across wrestling’s most prominent organizations. She holds the distinction of being the first WWE women’s United States champion and has previously won titles with WWE, Total Nonstop Action Wrestling, the National Wrestling Alliance and Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide.
Green assumes the interim championship in the absence of reigning champion Rhea Ripley, who is currently sidelined with an injury. A showdown between the two wrestlers appears likely once Ripley returns to competition, with the victor to be crowned the undisputed women’s champion.
Several formidable contenders have established themselves as potential challengers to Green’s new title. Jade Cargill, Lash Legend and Charlotte Flair all demonstrated their capabilities during Sunday’s match, while Tiffany Stratton currently holds the women’s United States Championship. Jacy Jayne and Blake Monroe also remain viable threats to Green’s reign.
