Multiple Deaths Reported in Shooting at Idaho Fast Food Restaurant

A shooting incident at an In-N-Out Burger location in Twin Falls, Idaho on Saturday afternoon resulted in multiple fatalities and additional injuries, according to law enforcement officials. Twin Falls Police Chief Matthew Hicks announced at a press conference that the gunman was killed during the incident, though authorities had not yet confirmed the total number of victims or the shooter’s identity at that time.

Hicks stated that investigators believed the immediate threat to the public had ended, though officials were still in the process of notifying families and determining exact casualty figures. Twin Falls County Commissioner Brent Reinke had previously indicated that Sheriff Jack Johnson reported five individuals sustained injuries in the attack.

Eyewitness Lane Koehn, 34, observed a person armed with an AR-style rifle emerge from the drive-thru window, where he was positioned near a nearby traffic light. According to Koehn’s account, an armed civilian began firing at the shooter, and he subsequently witnessed an In-N-Out employee assisting a wounded coworker across the parking lot until emergency medical personnel arrived.

The incident occurred in a heavily populated shopping district with hundreds of people present in the vicinity at the time of the shooting, Hicks said. Investigators were conducting extensive interviews with witnesses and appealed to the public for any information relevant to the case, while police cordoned off the area to continue their response efforts.

Twin Falls, a city with approximately 56,000 residents, is situated roughly 130 miles southeast of Boise and approximately 75 miles north of the Nevada state border. St. Luke’s Magic Valley medical center confirmed it was coordinating with law enforcement and emergency responders as the situation developed.
