A 44-year-old Georgia resident faces two counts of child abuse following an alleged assault aboard a Carnival cruise vessel on July 26. David Lawrence Crosby II of Surrency, Georgia, was taken into custody by the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office on July 27, according to booking records maintained by the agency.

The incident occurred aboard the Carnival Glory, which operates regularly out of Port Canaveral with cruises to the Bahamas. Crosby allegedly ran through a hallway where three children were engaged in a game of tag, striking one child in the face and causing a bloody lip and head discomfort before hitting a second child in the abdomen, according to a probable cause affidavit.

Ship security cameras recorded the confrontation, providing visual documentation of the alleged attack. When arrested, Crosby told officers he was “heavily intoxicated” and had no recollection of striking the children, authorities reported.

Carnival Cruise Line responded swiftly to the situation, confining Crosby to his cabin for the duration of the voyage and referring him to law enforcement upon docking. The cruise line also levied a code of conduct violation fee and added him to its Do Not Sail list, stating it maintains “zero tolerance for this type of behavior.”

Crosby posted $10,000 bond per count, totaling $20,000, and was released from custody Tuesday. He entered a not guilty plea at a Wednesday court appearance and faces arraignment on August 25.
