Andrus Peat, a three-time Pro Bowl selection, has announced his retirement from professional football after 11 seasons in the NFL. The 32-year-old offensive lineman shared news of his decision Friday through social media, stating he had given the sport his complete commitment throughout his career and was grateful for the opportunity to pursue his dream.
Drafted 13th overall in 2015 by the New Orleans Saints out of Stanford, Peat spent his first nine seasons with the organization as a primary starter at left guard. He earned Pro Bowl honors in three consecutive years from 2018 through 2020, and was instrumental in the Saints’ offensive line during their run of four consecutive NFC South division titles between 2017 and 2020.
Following the 2023 season, Peat joined the Las Vegas Raiders as a veteran backup, appearing in 15 games with just one start. He subsequently signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers this past season, where he appeared in six games and started three before announcing his retirement.
In his retirement announcement, Peat expressed gratitude to his coaches and teammates while highlighting his anticipation for the next phase of his life with his wife and two sons. His wife, Ashley, responded with a supportive message praising his dedication and sacrifices throughout his professional career.
