British Rapper Yung Filly Convicted of Assault in Australian Court, Acquitted on Rape Charges

A Perth jury found British social media personality and rapper Yung Filly guilty Friday of assaulting a fan after a concert performance nearly two years prior, though jurors determined he did not commit rape or choking as alleged. The 30-year-old performer, born Andres Felipe Valencia Barrientos, displayed visible emotion when the District Court of Western Australia delivered its verdicts. He had denied all charges, including six counts of rape, three counts of assault occasioning bodily harm, and one count of choking stemming from a September 2024 hotel room encounter.

Jurors deliberating for three days found Barrientos guilty on two assault charges specifically related to biting incidents. During his eight-day trial, the entertainer characterized the bites as affectionate gestures and testified the woman had not objected to his actions. The jury acquitted him on certain counts but could not reach consensus on three rape charges, potentially opening the door to a retrial on those allegations.

The alleged victim, who was 20 at the time of the incident and cannot be identified under Australian law, claimed she initially consented to sexual activity but withdrew permission due to safety concerns. Court evidence included photographs documenting bruising and bite marks on her face and neck. Barrientos, born in Colombia, was arrested in Brisbane days after the Perth encounter while touring Australia and has remained on bail throughout proceedings.

The case returns to court August 21 to determine next steps. Barrientos was permitted to return to Britain while awaiting trial and has remained free on bail since his initial charge.
