Surveillance footage released by FOX 5 Atlanta documents a harrowing confrontation at a Marietta Shell station where a mother successfully protected her children from an alleged abduction attempt. The incident unfolded around midnight last week when the woman was refueling her vehicle and a shirtless, barefoot man approached the family’s car. Police later identified the suspect as 30-year-old Jerahn Tucker.

According to Marietta Police Department Public Information Officer Charles McPhilamy, Tucker initiated conversation with the mother before the situation rapidly deteriorated. The video shows Tucker allegedly charging toward the vehicle, attempting to open doors and pull a child from the back seat. According to a warrant cited by the news station, Tucker claimed during the encounter to be armed before displaying aggressive behavior.

As one of the children fled the vehicle and ran around it with Tucker in pursuit, the mother wielded the gas pump hose as a defensive tool to keep the suspect away from her children. Two bystanders immediately abandoned what they were doing and rushed to assist as emergency services received a 911 call. Tucker eventually retreated to his own vehicle and drove away from the station.

Officers located and apprehended Tucker a short distance from the gas station. He remains housed in Cobb County Jail facing charges that include kidnapping and simple assault. Authorities have not disclosed any apparent motivation for the alleged attack, and investigators continue reviewing the circumstances surrounding the incident.
