Lauderhill police arrested a driver Wednesday morning following a collision that sent a pickup truck through a residential structure, authorities reported. The incident occurred around 1:30 a.m. in the 1100 block of Northwest 43rd Terrace, according to law enforcement officials.
The force of the impact was substantial enough that the vehicle penetrated entirely through the building, entering on one side and exiting the other. The truck struck a carport that had been converted into an additional living space, police said.
The residence was unoccupied at the time of the crash, and no injuries were sustained in the collision. The driver remained at the scene and exhibited signs of impairment, leading officers to detain the individual on suspicion of driving under the influence.
The driver’s name has not yet been disclosed by authorities. The investigation into the incident remains ongoing, police said.
