Federal prosecutors and legal representatives for social media personalities Andrew and Tristan Tate are scheduled to convene in Miami on Monday to establish procedural timelines for what could prove to be an extended extradition battle. The status conference will determine critical deadlines, including dates for bond hearings, document submissions, and a formal extradition hearing. The brothers face allegations of rape and sex trafficking in the United Kingdom.
The Tates, who hold dual U.S. and U.K. citizenship, were arrested on July 18 and are currently detained in federal custody near the Miami courthouse. Their legal team indicated the brothers would not attend Monday’s conference. A bond hearing date is expected to be established during the proceedings.
The former professional kickboxers have built a substantial following through social media promotion of wealth accumulation, male supremacy, and anti-feminist messaging. Their online presence spans millions of adherents across platforms, and both men are publicly aligned with U.S. President Donald Trump. The White House has already stated it will not provide assistance in the extradition matter.
British prosecutors brought fresh charges involving four additional accusers, supplementing existing allegations from three other complainants. The new charges encompass rape, assault, human trafficking, and crimes related to indecent imagery and extreme pornography spanning 2010 to 2017. Previously filed charges involve incidents between 2012 and 2015.
Defense attorney Joseph McBride maintains the brothers are innocent and contends the extradition effort is politically motivated. Andrew Tate, 39, gained initial prominence as a contestant on the British reality program “Big Brother” before his removal following a video depicting violence against a woman. He maintains over 10 million followers on X but has been banned from YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram for hate speech violations.
The Tates relocated to Romania in 2016 and were arrested there in 2022 on human trafficking allegations. That case stalled due to legal complications, and travel restrictions were subsequently lifted, allowing the brothers to travel to Florida. Both men have consistently denied all accusations.
