Chicago hosted the WNBA All-Star Game on Saturday night for the first time since 2022, marking another marquee event in the league’s 30th season. Team Spoon emerged victorious with a 129-122 triumph over Team Coop in a high-scoring affair that showcased the league’s offensive firepower and emerging talent.
Jonquel Jones orchestrated the winning effort with a well-rounded performance, amassing 22 points, 13 rebounds and eight assists while earning All-Star Game MVP honors. Caitlin Clark contributed 17 points as eight players on Team Spoon reached double figures in the scoring column, with Allisha Gray adding 19 points in the defensive showcase that featured 127 total three-point attempts.
An attendance record of 19,783 packed the United Center, the historic home of the Chicago Bulls, to witness the All-Star spectacle. Friday’s three-point and Shooting Stars competitions took place at nearby Wintrust Arena, a smaller venue several miles away.
Seattle Storm center Dominique Malonga made history in the second quarter when she converted a pass from Atlanta Dream star Angel Reese into a dunk, becoming the seventh player in league history to accomplish the feat during an All-Star Game. At 20 years old and standing 6-foot-6, Malonga holds the distinction of being the youngest player ever to record an All-Star Game dunk.
