Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu plans to travel to the nation’s capital next week for separate engagements with President Donald Trump and to honor the memory of late Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, according to an announcement from Netanyahu’s office Friday. Netanyahu will depart Israel on Monday and meet with Trump on Tuesday.
Graham’s communications office confirmed that memorial observances will take place Tuesday, July 28, in Washington, D.C., followed by additional services Wednesday, July 29, in Columbia and Pickens County, South Carolina. The events will celebrate what the office described as the senator’s “life and legacy.”
Netanyahu posted a tribute to Graham on X, calling the South Carolina Republican a “dear friend” and crediting him as a steadfast ally of Israel. “Lindsey is a great friend of Israel and a cherished friend of mine. We have no better friend than Lindsey,” Netanyahu wrote, noting that Graham recognized the interconnected security interests of both nations.
Netanyahu further eulogized Graham in the statement, saying the late senator dedicated his career to defending America, fortifying the U.S.-Israel partnership, and championing democratic values. “Israel has lost one of its greatest friends. America has lost a great patriot. I have lost a beloved friend,” Netanyahu concluded.
