Former President Joe Biden and his son Hunter Biden delivered an unexpected video message Friday to Barstool Sports personality “Jersey Jerry” during the annual “Pardon My Take” Takie Awards episode. The cameo saw the Bidens presenting Jerry with the “Lib of the Year” award after he captured the title for a third consecutive year, stunning both the honoree and the podcast hosts with the high-profile appearance.
Hunter Biden opened the pre-recorded segment by addressing their shared experience with recovery before extending congratulations to Jerry. “Hey, Jerry, from one brother in recovery to another, congratulations on the Lib of the Year award,” Hunter Biden said as the former president joined him on camera. Joe Biden followed with his own remarks, saying “We were both proud of you. Hey, Jerry, congratulations. Keep the faith, Jerry.”
Jerry visibly struggled to comprehend the presidential involvement in the comedy sports show’s awards ceremony. The Barstool personality requested the video be replayed and jokingly thanked the former president using a nickname associated with Donald Trump. “All right, Sleepy Joe. Thank you, brother,” Jerry said as the moment registered.
Podcast co-host Dan “Big Cat” Katz underscored the historical significance of the moment, noting that one of only 45 men to serve as president was presenting an award on the show. Barstool founder Dave Portnoy and other media personalities reacted with surprise to the appearance, with several expressing astonishment at the unexpected guest.
The two-hour, 48-minute episode featured more than 28 awards across various categories. The Takies mark the podcast’s annual parody awards celebration, with Jerry’s third consecutive victory extending his “dynastic run” in the Lib of the Year category, according to Katz.
