Prominent Democratic strategist James Carville launched a sharp critique of far-left members within his party Thursday, accusing them of elevating authoritarian regimes above celebrated American civil rights figures. Speaking on his “Politics War Room” podcast, Carville referenced comments from an unnamed Democratic politician who characterized even Black American leaders as agents of imperialism, a position Carville found indefensible.
Carville characterized the ideological faction as self-appointed arbiters of morality, describing them as “overeducated little White turds who think they know more than other people know.” He argued that such activists display paternalistic attitudes while promoting positions ranging from indictments of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to opposition toward interracial relationships.
The Democratic strategist has long cautioned his party against embracing radical cultural and political movements. In recent months, as democratic socialists have gained visibility within Democratic circles, Carville has escalated his warnings, suggesting the party may need to fracture to prevent extremists from gaining control.
Carville warned voters and moderates that these activists believe Lenin surpassed Martin Luther King Jr. and Frederick Douglass as historical figures. He urged Black voters and centrist Democrats to approach such politicians with skepticism, arguing they presume to understand constituents’ interests better than the constituents themselves.
The Democratic Socialists of America released a controversial platform earlier this month calling for immediate cessation of all deportations, unrestricted migration between nations, voting rights for incarcerated individuals and noncitizens, and abolition of the U.S. Senate. A Fox News poll released Wednesday showed support for socialism among Democrats has surpassed support for capitalism by 11 percentage points, with 52 percent favoring socialism compared to 41 percent favoring capitalism.
