The Indiana Fever faces renewed criticism following allegations by Brianna Turner, a former player now with the Las Vegas Aces, that the organization dismissed a male employee over sexual harassment complaints and instructed team members to remain silent about the situation. Turner’s public statements came in response to teammate Sophie Cunningham’s ESPN remarks defending women’s sports for biological females.

Cunningham stated during her interview that she aims to safeguard young female athletes in locker rooms and competitions from facing competition against biological males. Turner countered on social media that institutional misconduct within organizations like the Fever poses a greater threat to women’s sports than the inclusion of transgender athletes.

Turner pointed to former WNBA player Layshia Clarendon, who was assigned female at birth before later identifying as transgender, as evidence of successful trans inclusion. She noted that Clarendon “caused zero problems” during her career, contrasting that record with what she described as serious misconduct by the dismissed staff member.

The Fever issued a statement Thursday addressing Turner’s allegations, emphasizing that player and employee protection remains the organization’s primary concern. The team stated it investigates concerns thoroughly and acts promptly when warranted, though it declined to comment on specific personnel matters involving former employees.

As of Thursday, the WNBA had not announced plans to investigate Turner’s claims or issued any public response regarding the allegations.
