A South Florida judge has ordered Anthony Gordon and Danette Young to remain in custody without bond following their appearance in court Wednesday on charges related to a home invasion robbery that occurred last month in Miami Gardens. The couple, who have been detained for more than a month, initially claimed to be victims in the incident but authorities uncovered what police described as a record-breaking seizure at the scene.
Law enforcement officers responding to the Miami Gardens residence discovered $1.3 million in cash and illegal narcotics valued at approximately $5 million on the street market. The substantial haul of contraband and currency prompted authorities to file multiple felony drug charges against both defendants.
Defense attorneys argued during Wednesday’s hearing that the mere presence of drugs in the home did not establish their clients’ possession or guilt, and they petitioned the court to set bail for Gordon and Young’s release. However, the judge found the evidence—which included photographs of the seized cash, multiple weapons, and drugs—sufficiently compelling to warrant continued detention.
Gordon and Young now face a lengthy list of drug-related felonies and remain held in jail pending further court proceedings.
