President Donald Trump has given his approval to a nuclear agreement with Saudi Arabia that would potentially grant the kingdom the ability to enrich uranium for its civilian nuclear initiatives, according to two sources with knowledge of the matter. The sources, speaking on condition of anonymity due to the confidential nature of the arrangement, indicated a formal public announcement could come as soon as Wednesday.
The accord, structured as a three-decade commitment, is anticipated to include participation from American companies in establishing the Saudi nuclear infrastructure. According to the sources, the pact would permit Saudi Arabia to construct a uranium enrichment facility within its borders, contingent upon the completion of a collaborative technical assessment between Washington and Riyadh.
The White House declined to immediately address inquiries regarding the decision, which was initially disclosed by the Wall Street Journal. The administration has not yet provided official confirmation of the agreement’s scope or implementation timeline.
