Nova Festival Survivor Condemns NYC Official’s Arrest Threat Against Israeli Leader

Mazal Tazazo, a survivor of the October 2023 Nova music festival terrorist attack by Hamas, challenged comments made by New York City official Zohran Mamdani in a video posted on social media. Tazazo objected to Mamdani’s characterization of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as a “war criminal” and “the architect of a horrific genocide against the Palestinian people.” She described Mamdani’s messaging as irresponsible and potentially harmful to public discourse surrounding the Israel-Gaza conflict.

In his own video statement, Mamdani said he reviewed local legal options for enforcing an International Criminal Court arrest warrant against Netanyahu, should the Israeli leader visit New York City for the U.N. General Assembly in September. He concluded that New York City lacked independent authority to execute such a warrant but called on the federal government to join the ICC and pursue enforcement. Mamdani cited what he described as Netanyahu’s responsibility for more than 73,000 deaths and the targeting of civilian infrastructure including hospitals and humanitarian supply routes.

Tazazo disputed the genocide characterization, noting that while casualties are tragic, the conflict stems from Hamas’s use of civilian areas for military purposes. She invited critics to visit Israel to hear firsthand accounts from survivors and understand the broader context of the situation. She emphasized that no one would face arrest for visiting the country and hearing the Israeli perspective on events.

Radio host Jason Rantz shared Tazazo’s response on social media, framing it as a direct rebuke of Mamdani’s threats regarding Netanyahu’s potential arrest.
