Hernan Villagran Lux, 29, of Framingham, Massachusetts, was arrested Sunday night on the Cochituate Rail Trail and now faces criminal harassment charges stemming from a two-month campaign of intimidation at a Natick state park near Boston. Three female employees of the state Department of Conservation and Recreation reported experiencing repeated encounters with Lux, with one woman documenting over 50 separate incidents that authorities said progressively escalated in severity and boldness.
According to prosecutors, Lux repeatedly approached the women while wearing a distinctive black-and-white mime costume, engaging in behavior designed to unsettle them. The encounters included prolonged staring, unsettling smiles, unwanted compliments about their physical appearance, and refusals to leave despite explicit requests from park staff. In one particularly disturbing incident, authorities allege Lux stripped to his underwear, covered himself with cooking oil, and began exercising near the women’s work area.
Framingham District Court Supervisor Andrew Mange described the allegations during Monday’s court hearing, noting that the women characterized Lux’s manner of staring and smiling as “unnerving and frankly terrifying.” The behavior left all three employees afraid to work in proximity to Lux, forcing them to abandon their work areas on multiple occasions when he was present.
Social media warnings across Framingham, Natick, and Wayland communities indicated that other residents may have encountered Lux on the nearby Cochituate Rail Trail. Neighbors expressed concern about his behavior, with some noting his distinctive appearance made him recognizable across the area.
During the Monday court proceedings, Lux collapsed and lost consciousness as prosecutors detailed the allegations against him. After regaining awareness and receiving treatment, court resumed in the afternoon, with the judge ordering a mandatory mental health evaluation at Bridgewater State Hospital.
