Woman Dies After Falling From Vehicle Hood Following Altercation in Fort Lauderdale

A fatal incident unfolded early Tuesday morning in Fort Lauderdale when a woman jumped onto the hood of a vehicle and fell off as it moved, resulting in her death. Fort Lauderdale police responded to the 400 block of Southeast 32nd Street around 2 a.m. following reports of a pedestrian struck by a car.

Officers determined that the driver and the victim were acquainted and had engaged in a physical altercation at a nearby hotel before the incident occurred. When the man attempted to depart the hotel in his vehicle, the woman climbed onto the hood and subsequently fell during the car’s motion, authorities said.

The woman sustained critical injuries from the fall and was immediately transported to Broward Health Medical Center by Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue personnel, where she was pronounced dead. The driver remained at the scene and contacted emergency services following the accident.

Detectives continue investigating the circumstances of the case as they work to notify the woman’s family members. Her identity has not been released pending next-of-kin notification, and authorities have not disclosed details about what prompted the initial altercation between the two individuals.

The Fort Lauderdale Police Department is requesting assistance from anyone who witnessed the incident or has information related to the case.
