California Man Arrested on Multiple Child Sexual Abuse Charges; Authorities Seek Additional Victims

Law enforcement in Monterey County has arrested a 51-year-old man accused of sexually abusing multiple children over an extended period, with investigators indicating that additional unreported victims may still exist. Emmanuel Marchica of Hollister was taken into custody on July 10 following a sheriff’s office investigation that uncovered several alleged victims beyond the initial complainant. Detectives began their inquiry on July 5 when deputies received a report of ongoing child sexual abuse.

The scope of the investigation expanded rapidly as detectives interviewed witnesses and identified multiple alleged victims before executing multiple search warrants that led to Marchica’s arrest. Victim disclosures reveal alleged abuse dating back to at least 2012, prompting investigators to believe more victims and witnesses remain unidentified. The accused man was working as a pastor and conducting religious services at a community gathering center in Hidden Valley, located in San Benito County, at the time of his arrest.

Prior to his ministerial role, Marchica owned and operated bakery businesses in Prunedale and Monterey, as well as fitness facilities in Sand City, Seaside and Prunedale where he provided physical therapy, massage therapy and jiu-jitsu instruction. Authorities believe these various business ventures and community positions may have provided opportunities for contact with potential additional victims throughout the years.

Marchica was booked into Monterey County Jail facing multiple felony counts including lewd or lascivious acts with a child, sexual penetration of a child, oral copulation with a child and annoying or molesting a child. His bail was set at $17.5 million.
