
A man sustained gunshot wounds during an incident Sunday evening at a residential condominium development in Deerfield Beach, authorities said. Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies arrived at the 5000 block of East Lakes Drive within the Lakes development just before 7:15 p.m. and discovered the injured victim on the scene.
Emergency responders quickly administered medical assistance to the gunshot victim before paramedics transported him to a nearby hospital. The victim’s condition was not immediately disclosed by law enforcement officials. By approximately 8:15 p.m., authorities had taken one individual into custody in connection with the shooting.
Detectives from the Broward Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene and Violent Crimes Unit have assumed lead investigative responsibilities and are working to establish the circumstances that led to the shooting, according to spokesperson Miranda Grossman. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities continue gathering evidence from the scene.
