Vice President JD Vance and second lady Usha Vance announced Sunday that they had welcomed their fourth child into their family. The couple revealed via a joint Instagram post that their newborn son, Alec Neel Vance, arrived Sunday morning, with both mother and baby reported to be in good health.
“We are excited to announce that our baby boy, Alec Neel Vance, was born this morning,” the Vances wrote in their social media announcement. “Usha and the baby are happy and healthy, and our kids are overjoyed to meet their little brother.”
The vice president and second lady expressed gratitude to the medical professionals who assisted with the birth and care of their expanding family. They specifically commended the military doctors and staff at Walter Reed Medical Center and the White House Medical Unit for their support during the delivery.
The couple had disclosed their pregnancy plans in January, stating at that time that they anticipated welcoming their fourth child in late July. The Vances are also parents to sons Ewan and Vivek and daughter Mirabel, all of whom garnered public attention during their appearance at the January presidential inauguration ceremonies.
JD and Usha Vance met while studying at Yale Law School and married in 2014, building their family over the subsequent decade.
