A serious traffic collision in Deerfield Beach on May 26 claimed one life and left three others injured, including Antwan Brand, who continues to battle the physical and financial aftermath months later. The crash occurred near the intersection of Northeast Third Avenue and 44th Street, with Brand ejected from a red Nissan Rogue that sustained severe damage in the impact.

Brand described the moment of impact as sudden and disorienting, explaining that another vehicle struck him from behind as he approached a four-way stop sign heading north. Emergency responders transported him to a trauma center where surgeons performed immediate operations to locate internal bleeding and stabilize his condition. Despite survival, Brand now faces a long rehabilitation process while confined to a wheelchair and experiencing daily pain that prevents him from working.

Fedeline Saint Cyr, 59, a passenger in a Land Rover involved in the collision, was pronounced dead after being ejected from the vehicle. The Broward Sheriff’s Office traffic homicide unit continues its investigation into the circumstances of the fatal crash.

Brand’s family of four now resides in a hotel room as medical expenses accumulate from his treatment and ongoing care needs. His two-year-old son has begun assisting him with daily tasks, a role reversal that weighs heavily on the injured father. To address the escalating financial burden, the family established a GoFundMe page to solicit community assistance with medical bills and living expenses.
