The veteran actor, best known for his role in “The Breakfast Club,” recently appeared at a press event for the FOX competition series “Nation’s Dumbest,” where he shared insights about navigating an unpredictable industry.
Hall emphasized the importance of maintaining thick skin while remaining eager to collaborate with talented colleagues. “Just being persistent and tenacious” proved crucial to his staying power, he explained, alongside an innate determination that has carried him through lean periods and unexpected opportunities alike.

“Nation’s Dumbest,” hosted by Jack Whitehall, features 12 celebrities competing in classroom-themed trivia and physical challenges with an unconventional twist: elimination represents advancement rather than failure. Hall noted the show’s parallels to his iconic 1985 film, where he and castmates formed unexpected bonds while confined to a single space.
The competition’s inaugural cast includes Ice-T, Jon Heder, Hilaria Baldwin, Carmen Electra, Chase Hudson, Elle King, Matt Leinart, Dr. Drew Pinsky, Steve-O, JoJo Siwa and Andrew Yang. The series premiered July 15 on FOX and subsequently became available on Hulu.
