
Authorities on Chicago’s South Side arrested a woman following a shooting that left a man dead during a violent domestic altercation. The incident unfolded late Friday evening in the 400 block of West Marquette Road in the Englewood neighborhood.
An argument between a 22-year-old woman and a 36-year-old man escalated inside the residence shortly before 11 p.m., according to Chicago police. The man produced a blade and wounded the woman in the stomach during the confrontation, then forced her out of the dwelling.
Another woman present at the scene witnessed the assault and discharged a firearm, striking the suspect in the upper body. Emergency responders transported the man to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where medical personnel pronounced him dead upon arrival. His identity remains undisclosed.
Paramedics brought the 22-year-old stabbing victim to the same medical facility, where she was listed in stable condition. Responding officers apprehended the shooter and seized the weapon used in the incident.
The arrested woman faces pending charges related to the shooting. Police have not yet disclosed specific charges or additional details about her identity.
