Woman Arrested After Fatally Shooting Man During South Side Domestic Violence Incident

A person was arrested after fatally shooting a man who allegedly stabbed another woman Friday night in Englewood on the South Side.

A 22-year-old woman and a man were arguing inside a home in the 400 block of West Marquette Road around 10:55 p.m. when the man pulled out a sharp object and stabbed the woman in the abdomen, Chicago police said.

The man, 36, then pulled the 22-year-old outside of the home, according to police.

Police said a female inside the home, whose age wasn't known, witnessed the altercation and shot the man in the chest. He was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. His name hasn't been released.

The 22-year-old was taken to the same hospital in good condition, police said.

Officers arrested the female and recovered the gun, police said. Charges were pending.

Chicago police have taken into custody a woman suspected of firing the fatal shot during a violent domestic confrontation that claimed a man’s life on Friday evening. The shooting transpired in the Englewood neighborhood’s 400 block of West Marquette Road shortly before 11 p.m.

A 36-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman engaged in a heated dispute inside a residence, according to law enforcement. During the altercation, the man wielded a knife and inflicted a stab wound to the woman’s abdomen before forcing her from the home.

A second woman present at the location intervened by firing a weapon at the man, striking him in the torso. The wounded man was transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The stabbing victim, identified as the 22-year-old woman, received emergency medical treatment at the same hospital and remained in stable condition following the incident. Officers recovered the firearm and detained the shooter at the scene.

Charges against the arrested woman are currently pending as the investigation continues. Police have withheld her identity and specific charge information pending further developments.
