The Miami Panthers organization announced Friday it has suspended a member of its operations staff following criminal allegations. Head equipment manager Thaddeus James Richards, 43, was arrested by the Coral Springs Police Department and faces charges including domestic battery and improper emergency services calls.
Richards was transported to the Broward County Main Jail for processing, where he remained without bail as of Saturday. Detention records indicate he is accused of domestic battery involving physical contact and making an improper call to emergency services.
A team statement confirmed the organization’s decision to immediately suspend Richards and restrict his access to team facilities and operations pending the outcome of legal proceedings. The franchise said it would maintain the suspension until all court matters are resolved.
As of Saturday, court documents had not provided specific details about the circumstances of the allegations at the time of his booking. The team indicated it has requested additional documentation from prosecutors to fully review the charges being pursued.
