A system of severe storms swept through New Jersey on Wednesday, leaving significant damage across multiple communities. The weather event produced widespread flooding on roads, toppled numerous trees and damaged residential structures throughout the state.
In Haworth, one resident experienced a particularly harrowing incident when a tree crashed through his roof during the storm. The homeowner, who was eating breakfast at the time the tree struck, narrowly avoided serious injury from the falling branches that penetrated his home just feet away from where he was seated.
The impact of the storm extended beyond the single residence, with reports of stranded motorists on flooded thoroughfares across New Jersey. Utility companies reported widespread outages affecting power and natural gas service to numerous properties damaged during the severe weather event.
