Jay Clayton has won Senate confirmation as director of national intelligence, installing permanent leadership across the government’s intelligence apparatus. The vote comes weeks after President Donald Trump had sought to postpone consideration of his nomination for the top spy agency post.
Clayton will now oversee the nation’s sprawling intelligence community, coordinating among dozens of agencies responsible for protecting American national security interests abroad and at home.
