President Donald Trump conducted individual meetings Tuesday with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during their visit to Washington, D.C. Both leaders were in the nation’s capital to attend the funeral services for Senator Lindsey Graham, who passed away July 11 at the age of 71 following a trip to Kyiv.
Netanyahu characterized his discussion with Trump as centering on shared objectives, particularly preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons capability. The Israeli prime minister did not provide extensive details about the scope of their conversation or any specific agreements reached during the session.
Zelenskyy used the opportunity to address concerns about Russian intelligence activities. The Ukrainian president stated that Russia had transferred satellite imagery of U.S. military installations in the Persian Gulf region to Iran, prompting discussions about American military support.
During their meeting, Zelenskyy and Trump discussed production licensing for Patriot air defense interceptors and explored additional measures to bolster Ukraine’s defensive capabilities. “The President and I discussed licenses for Patriot interceptor production and several other ideas that could help,” Zelenskyy said in a written statement.
Trump indicated he intends to raise Zelenskyy’s allegations with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One, Trump downplayed the severity of any Russian actions, stating: “I don’t think they’ve been doing it, certainly not at a high level, and if they have, it has been very un-impactful.”
