A strong earthquake measuring 6.8 in magnitude struck Kyushu, Japan’s southernmost main island, on Tuesday late afternoon, leaving damage and multiple injuries in its wake, according to government authorities. The powerful seismic event prompted immediate emergency responses from officials monitoring the region.
In the immediate aftermath of the quake, Japanese authorities issued a tsunami advisory as a precautionary measure. The warning remained in effect for approximately two hours before being formally lifted as monitoring confirmed no significant coastal threat had materialized.
