Law enforcement arrived at a YMCA facility in New Jersey shortly after 11 a.m. on reports involving at least 13 children who had fallen ill, authorities said. The incident prompted a rapid response from emergency personnel who attended to the affected campers at the facility.
Preliminary reports indicated the children had consumed edible products containing mushrooms infused with cannabis. The source of the items and how they came to be available at the summer camp location remained under investigation by local police.
All affected children received medical attention for their symptoms. Officials did not immediately disclose details about the severity of the cases or any hospitalizations that may have occurred as a result of the incident.
