During Thursday’s episode of ABC’s “Behind the Table” podcast, “The View” panelist Ana Navarro offered enthusiastic remarks about Hunter Biden following their extended sit-down conversation, describing him as both “captivating” and “the supreme troll.” Navarro used the platform to defend Biden against criticism surrounding his prior financial dealings with the Ukrainian energy company Burisma.
In her comments, Navarro drew a sharp contrast between the scrutiny directed at Biden’s Burisma compensation and the significantly larger sums accumulated by the Trump family during the current administration. She emphasized what she characterized as a glaring inconsistency in how the two situations have been treated publicly and politically.
“The monetization of the presidency, the fact that Hunter got dragged through the coals and brought into a congressional hearing by Republicans for the money that he was making in Burisma, which is not even chump change in comparison to the billions of dollars that the Trump family has made off the presidency,” Navarro stated.
Navarro noted that this disparity represented one of several “double standards” that emerged during her lengthy interview with Biden, recorded for her “Bleep! with Ana Navarro” podcast. She explained her motivation for featuring Biden as a guest stemmed from his increasingly humorous social media presence.
“I wanted him on because I’ve been seeing his social media and he has become the biggest troll, but he does it also with humor,” Navarro said.
The host cited Biden’s witty response to a social media user who had previously implicated him in the discovery of cocaine at the White House in July 2023. Biden’s quip demonstrated his comedic timing, according to Navarro’s recounting of the exchange.
“And he’s like, ‘No, I would have never forgotten my coke,'” Navarro remarked.
The Secret Service investigation into the White House cocaine incident concluded without identifying whoever left the substance at the facility. The FBI reopened its own investigation into the matter in 2025.
Navarro characterized her extended conversation with Biden as consistently engaging throughout its entire duration. She expressed disappointment that the interview timing conflicted with a major international soccer match.
“Hunter Biden is riveting, riveting. We talked for over an hour and a half,” Navarro said. “Here’s the problem: The interview was scheduled at the same exact time as the Argentina versus England World Cup game.”
According to the House Oversight Committee, Burisma provided Hunter Biden and business partner Devon Archer with annual compensation of $1 million each starting in 2014 when they joined the company’s board. Biden’s father was serving as Vice President at the time and held significant influence over U.S. policy decisions affecting Ukraine.
Biden underwent questioning during a closed-door deposition before Congress in February 2024 as part of the Republican-controlled impeachment inquiry targeting his father. The full House ultimately declined to proceed with formal impeachment articles.
Beyond defending Biden’s corporate board positions, Navarro also spoke out in favor of his art sales, asserting that these transactions faced unwarranted criticism. She stressed that Biden maintained his artistic practice throughout his life and that proper oversight mechanisms were implemented during his father’s tenure in the White House.
“And while his father was president, he didn’t make any money. He made money off his paintings… every painting he sold had to go through vetting, and he had been painting his entire life,” Navarro explained.
The White House issued a statement rejecting Navarro’s comparison between the Trump family’s business activities and Biden’s financial pursuits. Officials characterized Trump’s children as accomplished entrepreneurs managing substantial enterprises while questioning Biden’s credibility and accomplishments.
White House communications director Steven Cheung delivered a pointed rebuttal to Fox News Digital, stating: “President Trump’s children are extremely successful business leaders in their own right running multi-billion-dollar corporations. Hunter Biden smoked crack, banged hookers, and sold ugly paintings for hundreds of thousands of dollars. No one cares what he has to say.”
According to testimony from Biden’s former art dealer Georges Bergès, buyer confidentiality protections were not established until September 2021, and Biden was acquainted with approximately 70 percent of his purchasers. Data compiled by the Washington Post indicated that ten separate collectors paid $1.5 million combined for his artwork, with Biden receiving $900,000 of that total.
A Reuters analysis conducted in June estimated that Trump and his sons have accumulated at least $2.3 billion through cryptocurrency-related business ventures initiated following his return to office. Trump stated this month that he does not oversee the management of his personal financial portfolio.
