During a recent appearance on the “SmartLess” podcast, 58-year-old Timothy Olyphant candidly discussed his unconventional relationship with modern technology, revealing that he does not maintain an active computer for everyday use. The “Justified” star explained to hosts Jason Bateman, Will Arnett and Sean Hayes that he had to dust off an old desktop computer simply to participate in the interview, ultimately borrowing a friend’s office space to make the conversation possible.

Olyphant defended his minimalist tech approach when pressed by his hosts, asserting that a smartphone and basic devices suffice for his needs. When questioned about whether he uses tablets or other digital tools for creative work, he pushed back against what he perceived as condescending suggestions, maintaining that his limited technology usage remains intentional rather than circumstantial.

The actor elaborated on his outdated desktop computer situation, describing how the machine had deteriorated from disuse and required significant effort to resurrect. Once powered on, the aging equipment presented additional complications, with Olyphant joking that his podcast appearance demanded far more technological effort than anticipated, claiming “there’s a lot of sacrifices that went into this guys.”

When Bateman pivoted the discussion toward artificial intelligence, asking whether Olyphant felt curious about emerging technologies, the actor reiterated that a smartphone provided adequate access to explore such subjects. Olyphant’s career includes breakthrough roles in “Go,” “Deadwood,” “Justified,” “Santa Clarita Diet,” “The Mandalorian,” “The Book of Boba Fett” and “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.”
