New York City police are investigating an armed robbery and shooting that left a 21-year-old livery cab driver hospitalized Saturday morning in Brooklyn. The suspect, who remains at large, allegedly shot the victim in the face after demanding money and vehicle keys around 4 a.m., according to an NYPD statement provided to Fox 5 New York.
The gunman entered the TLC-licensed livery cab—a vehicle designated for pre-arranged pickups rather than street hails—and immediately threatened the driver. When the victim attempted to flee the vehicle, the suspect fired a weapon, striking him in the facial area and then escaping on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Emergency responders transported the driver to a nearby hospital in stable condition, with no life-threatening injuries reported. Police confirmed the suspect took only currency from the cab and left other valuables behind.
Authorities describe the suspect as a man last seen wearing blue shorts, a black sweatshirt, black surgical mask, black shoes, and carrying a black backpack.
