Driver crashes into parked cars, home during medical emergency in Sunrise

An elderly driver experiencing a medical emergency crashed into several parked cars before slamming into a home in Sunrise Friday evening, according to Sunrise police.The crash happened on Northwest 11th Place, where the vehicle came to a stop after crashing into the house, leaving a hole and debris behind.Video obtained by Local 10 from a nearby home shows the driver hitting several parked vehicles. The driver also hit both of Chris Vonwittke’s vehicles parked in his driveway.“Me and one of the neighbors looked at him, it looked he didn’t know — he thought it was a different day of the week,” Vonwittke said.In one clip, the vehicle’s airbag can be seen deployed.Neighbors said the driver had a sunshade covering the front windshield.More video from neighbors showed police arriving at the scene as people came out of their homes to see what happened.One neighbor said the driver appeared disoriented after the crash and did not know where he was.Sunrise police said the driver lost control while experiencing a medical emergency. Paramedics took him to the hospital.Police said the driver was conscious and breathing, and there were no injuries reported to the driver or anyone else in the neighborhood.
