Son of ‘Long Island Lolita’ Amy Fisher Charged in Cat’s Death; Microwave Radiation Suspected

The adult son of “Long Island Lolita” Amy Fisher and his girlfriend have been charged with felony animal cruelty following an investigation into their pet cat’s death in Broward County, Florida. Brett Anthony Bellera, 25, and Jennifer Armenti, 36, were each arrested and charged separately after authorities determined their brown-and-white tabby, Reaper, died from severe heat exposure. A forensic veterinarian identified microwave radiation as a potential cause, along with immersion in extremely hot water or exposure to hot-water vapor.

The case began on December 15, 2024, when a friend of the couple reported Reaper’s suspicious death to Broward County Animal Care. Armenti initially told investigators she discovered the deceased cat on the bathroom floor that morning, though the animal’s body was later found on the apartment’s back patio inside a plastic laundry basket. Authorities observed the cat’s stiffened body positioned unnaturally with significant blood pooling underneath.

A forensic necropsy conducted by the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals revealed the cat sustained fatal injuries from extreme heat exposure. Microscopic tissue analysis indicated the animal did not die immediately from the exposure, suggesting Reaper endured considerable suffering before death. Bellera suggested the cat may have accidentally ingested cleaning products, according to court documents.

Bellera was arrested on June 4, 2026, following charges filed the previous day, while Armenti was arrested later that month. Both posted $25,000 bonds and are subject to electronic monitoring or house-arrest conditions. Both defendants have entered not guilty pleas, and their cases remain active in the court system.

Bellera is the eldest son Fisher shares with her former husband, retired NYPD officer Louis Bellera. Fisher became a tabloid sensation in 1992 when, at age 16, she shot Mary Jo Buttafuoco outside the family’s Long Island home. Fisher served seven years in prison for the shooting; Buttafuoco survived with the bullet remaining lodged in her head.
