The USS Abraham Lincoln, a nuclear-powered aircraft carrier, passed through waters near Singapore in the early morning hours Sunday as it navigated homeward following an extended operational tour in the Middle East. The vessel, one of the Navy’s premier combat platforms, transited the Singapore Strait just after 1 a.m. local time while crossing the region en route to its home base.

Associated Press journalists stationed on the Indonesian island of Batam, positioned across the Singapore Strait from Singapore, documented the carrier’s passage through the busy waterway. The Lincoln’s journey marks the conclusion of a demanding deployment that saw the warship maintain continuous operations at sea for more than 250 consecutive days, setting a record for sustained naval deployment.

The carrier’s extended time in the theater was devoted to supporting U.S. military operations against Iran and broader regional security objectives. However, the prolonged deployment has raised concerns among military officials and personnel, with reports indicating deteriorating mental health conditions among crew members and documented shortages of essential supplies, including food and hygiene items.

Thailand will serve as the carrier’s next port of call, providing an opportunity for crew rest and recovery before the Lincoln completes its final leg to the United States. Thai officials have confirmed arrangements for the planned stopover in the country.
