Bodycam footage obtained by OutKick captured the moment East Palestine, Ohio police arrested San Francisco 49ers owner Jed York during a prostitution sting operation. The video shows York visibly shocked as officers placed him in handcuffs at his rental vehicle, repeatedly asking what he had done wrong as authorities conducted a pat-down search.
York, dressed in a Yankees t-shirt and shorts, was taken into custody on charges of engaging in prostitution and possessing criminal tools. According to an incident report from the Mahoning Valley Law Enforcement Task Force, York had agreed to pay $160 to a woman for one hour of sexual services after responding to an undercover advertisement on a prostitution website using the alias “Joe.”
Police bodycam footage revealed officers discovered hundreds of dollars in $20 bills in York’s rental vehicle. One officer commented on the incident, saying “It’s crazy the people that do this. They could do whatever they want. They could do other things. They could go other ways. It’s wild.”
The initial charges were later amended to misdemeanor counts of disorderly conduct and possessing criminal tools. York pleaded no contest to both charges and received a one-day jail sentence with credit for time served, along with a $1,150 fine.
The 49ers declined to comment on the closed legal matter, though head coach Kyle Shanahan addressed the arrest during a media session. Shanahan stated the situation has no impact on the team’s operations and does not affect on-field performance, adding that he maintains respect for York and his family.
The NFL is currently reviewing York’s arrest to determine whether it violates the league’s personal conduct policy. York, who previously served as the 49ers’ CEO, has been the franchise’s majority owner since 2024.
