The Miami Dolphins eliminated 11 players from their roster on Saturday as part of the standard process to whittle their training camp squad down to the mandatory 53-man limit before the upcoming season. The team announced the moves to prepare for their 2026 campaign, which begins with a road matchup against Las Vegas.
Among those released were cornerback Alex Austin, running backs Coleman Bennett and Donovan Edwards, tackle Kevin Cline, edge rusher Seth Coleman-Lyles, tight end Ethan Conner, linebackers Stephen Dix Jr. and Jaheim Thomas, defensive linemen Alex Huntley and Cam Rice, safety Louis Moore, and wide receiver Theo Wease Jr. Wease Jr. drew particular attention as a notable casualty after appearing in three games last season, accumulating six receptions for 139 yards and one touchdown.
Wease Jr.’s release came after he dropped an open touchdown pass from quarterback Mark Gronowski during Friday’s preseason game against Atlanta. Coleman-Lyles showed promise with a half-sack in the same contest, though the performance failed to secure his roster spot. Edwards, a former University of Michigan player, had previously spent time with the New York Jets and Washington before joining Miami.
Austin compiled 29 NFL appearances with Houston and New England prior to signing with the Dolphins in March. Safety Louis Moore arrived as an undrafted free agent following his college tenure at Indiana and Ole Miss. Players who clear waivers may still rejoin Miami’s practice squad if unclaimed by other franchises.
The Dolphins will begin their regular season against the Las Vegas Raiders at Allegiant Stadium on Sept. 13 at 4:25 p.m. ET.
