The Indiana Fever defeated the Connecticut Sun 111-91 on Friday night behind a dominant offensive performance from their star backcourt duo. Caitlin Clark and Kelsey Mitchell each finished with 34 points, extending their WNBA single-season record for a pair of teammates scoring 30 or more points in the same game to four occasions this year.

Clark’s efficient night included 12 assists, marking her fifth double-double of the season with at least 30 points and 10 assists. Mitchell recorded her 24th consecutive game scoring 20 or more points, a streak that will pause as Indiana embarks on a three-week break for the FIBA Women’s World Cup.

The Fever controlled the contest from midway through the first half onward, erasing an early 28-14 deficit through a combination of defensive intensity and balanced scoring. Indiana’s 18-2 run closing the first half gave the home team a comfortable 58-43 advantage heading into intermission.

Diamond Miller led Connecticut with 19 points while Nell Angloma added 17 in a losing effort. The Sun, now 0-6 in their last eight games, fell behind 76-57 midway through the third quarter and never mounted a serious comeback attempt.

During the third quarter, Mitchell moved into second place on Indiana’s all-time assists list with her 911th career helper, surpassing current Fever assistant coach Briann January. The team honored late music icon Dolly Parton with a halftime tribute dance to “9 to 5” between the third and fourth quarters.

The Fever improved to 7-2 over their last nine games ahead of the international competition. Clark, Aliyah Boston, and coach Stephanie White depart for Berlin to represent the United States at the World Cup, with Boston contributing 14 points Friday night.
