Raquel Lee Bolleau, a former Disney Channel performer, has initiated legal action against The Walt Disney Company, contending the studio failed to safeguard her from sexual abuse by an adult male employee when she was 14 years old. According to court documents reviewed by Fox News Digital, the alleged misconduct occurred during filming of the 2001 Disney Channel movie “The Poof Point,” after studio personnel instructed the young actress to spend time with the adult male to strengthen their working relationship.
The complaint details that the employee provided Bolleau with alcohol and engaged in repeated sexual assault during production. Following one alleged assault, the employee reportedly told her, “You’re old enough. You can handle it.” When Bolleau returned to set showing visible signs of distress—including vomiting and smelling of alcohol—Disney executives allegedly dismissed her condition rather than investigating or seeking medical attention, instead labeling her “out of control” and claiming the production had gone “haywire.”
Bolleau alleges Disney systematically separated her from her legal guardian despite California law mandating that guardians of child performers under 16 remain within sight or sound of the minor. Production staff allegedly told the guardian, “We do not even need you on set,” leaving the actress without adequate supervision and enabling the employee’s access to her.
The lawsuit contends the alleged abuse included sexual harassment and unwanted physical contact in front of other set members, including comments audible to sound technicians who allegedly failed to intervene. Bolleau claims the misconduct extended beyond filming, including an alleged sexual assault during a first-class flight to California when she was seated away from her guardian.
Bolleau’s attorneys, Doug Wigdor and Jane Kim, stated the case represents part of a broader institutional pattern at Disney. They said the company ignored warning signs, violated child-actor protections, and failed to properly supervise the alleged abuser. Bolleau is seeking compensatory and punitive damages along with attorney’s fees and costs.
Bolleau began her entertainment career with appearances on “Malcolm & Eddie” before landing a regular role on Nickelodeon’s “The Amanda Show” alongside Amanda Bynes. She subsequently appeared in Disney projects and voiced a character on “The Proud Family” from 2001 to 2005. She alleges Disney canceled her role in a production following the 2001 alleged assault.
Disney has not responded to requests for comment regarding the allegations presented in the lawsuit.
