Authorities in Miami-Dade County have arrested two individuals accused of breaking into the residence of Henry Parra and Adam Hlavaty, a couple killed in a helicopter crash in Kenya on August 19. Geybert Alexander Garcia, 40, and Melany Pavon Perdomo, 24, were taken into custody on August 25 on multiple felony charges related to the incident, according to court records and arrest affidavits reviewed by Fox News Digital. Garcia is a U.S. citizen, while Perdomo is currently subject to an immigration detainer.
The pair allegedly stole luxury vehicles, personal documents, jewelry and artwork from the victims’ South Florida townhome, which is valued at approximately $3 million. Among the items taken were a 2023 Land Rover Range Rover, a 2020 Porsche Taycan and a sculpture valued at more than $500,000. Investigators determined that the residence remained intact immediately following the victims’ deaths on August 19.
Parra, 55, a former Navy aviation support technician who later co-founded an aviation maintenance company, and Hlavaty, 42, a real estate executive and development company co-founder, were among seven people killed when a safari helicopter crashed in northern Kenya’s Samburu County. The aircraft was traveling from the Loisaba Conservancy to the Ewaso Nyiro area near Mount Ololokwe when it went down, according to Kenya’s civil aviation authority. The cause remains under investigation.
Five of the seven victims were U.S. citizens, according to the State Department. The crash also claimed the lives of Miami restaurateur Roger Duarte, José Suárez, who led Telemundo-owned stations in Florida, Ecuador’s intelligence chief Michele Sensi-Contugi, fashion designer Stephany Hollihan, and pilot Josh Outram.
Police say the break-in occurred between August 20 and August 22 while the couple’s housekeeper was scheduled to visit daily. Officers used Apple’s Find My service to trace a stolen MacBook to a residence in northwest Miami-Dade, with location data from the Range Rover’s app confirming the same location.
During a search warrant execution, officers discovered Garcia hiding in a second-floor closet and Perdomo in an upstairs bedroom. Investigators recovered victim documents, vehicle key fobs and valuable artworks at the scene, along with materials allegedly used to produce fraudulent identification documents.
Garcia faces charges including burglary of an unoccupied dwelling, two counts of grand theft of a vehicle and first-degree grand theft. Perdomo is charged with burglary of an unoccupied dwelling and two first-degree grand theft counts. Both defendants are scheduled for arraignment on September 28.
