Arays Izquierdo, a housekeeper in West Miami, allegedly violated the trust of an employing family by stealing luxury jewelry worth more than $268,000, according to authorities. The family had provided Izquierdo with house keys, which she used to access the residence and remove high-value items including a Van Cleef & Arpels necklace and Cartier bracelets, police said.
Investigators discovered that Izquierdo had pawned multiple items matching pieces reported missing by the victims. Officers conducting a search of her Hialeah apartment recovered numerous stolen goods from her bedroom and closet that correlated with the family’s loss report.
Among the stolen items were a 24-karat gold knot chain, two Cuban link chains, a diamond-studded custom bracelet, a Cartier nail necklace, a Capricorn pendant, white gold diamond earrings, a gold diamond necklace, and a gold bracelet valued at $95,650, according to police records.
Officers from Hialeah and West Miami police detained Izquierdo at her apartment shortly before 9 a.m. on August 20. She was booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center after 12:40 a.m. on Friday, facing charges of burglary of an occupied dwelling and first-degree grand theft.
A judge set Izquierdo’s bond at $20,000 and issued an order requiring her to maintain distance from the West Miami family. Circuit Judge Tanya Brinkley was assigned to oversee the case. Court records also showed that Miami police had arrested Izquierdo on November 21 on a separate petit theft charge at a Target in Flagami, which prosecutors subsequently dropped.
