Law enforcement officials arrested three people Tuesday following an extended pursuit that involved Fort Lauderdale police and Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies. The chase originated when an officer spotted a vehicle around 11:30 a.m. that authorities linked to a felony crime that had occurred earlier in Pompano Beach.

The vehicle had previously eluded BSO deputies, and when a Fort Lauderdale officer attempted to pull it over, the driver accelerated and fled. Officers initiated a pursuit as backup units, including BSO’s Aviation Unit, converged on the scene to assist in stopping the suspect vehicle.

The pursuit ended in the 1600 block of West Sunrise Boulevard after Fort Lauderdale police deployed a grappler device designed to immobilize fleeing vehicles. All three occupants abandoned the car and fled on foot before being apprehended shortly thereafter.

Authorities have withheld the identities of the three arrested individuals and have not disclosed specifics about the Pompano Beach felony incident. The Broward Sheriff’s Office is leading the investigation into the matter.
